NH Additional Information from Dr. Richards - December 2, 2020

We received some additional information for today.

Food:  Community Services has asked us to move their food distribution to December 17th.  It will run from 5:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. We will send out more information closer to that time.

Report:  An adult at NH Middle School reported a positive Covid test to us this afternoon.  This does not involve any school contact tracing.

Some Good News:  Overall, in total for the year since August, we have had less than 2% of our students and staff report positive tests.  I am extremely proud of our school community and the efforts of our students, faculty, and staff.

Sorry for so many emails today. :-)

NH Update from Dr. Richards - December 2, 2020

Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff,

We hope that you are doing well.

With the recent change in weather we saw our first snow.  If we were to have a closure due to inclement weather, we would transition to eLearning on that same day.   Teachers will be working from home on those days and will post assignments as we did on our recent eLearning days.   We will notify the local TV stations as well as send messages to you via School Messenger.  It is important that your child's Harmony information is up to date.  Our messaging system uploads contact information from Harmony every night.

We received word that a student at North Harrison Middle School received a positive test result for Covid 19.   We also had an adult at Morgan report a positive test.  Contract tracing was limited given the recent Thanksgiving break and current measures.  Everyone impacted by this event has been notified.  As a school community it is important that we continue to take measures to stay safe.  If your child does not feel well, please do not send them to school.  We are anticipating some updates to our quarantine protocols from the Indiana Department of Health.  If and when that happens, we will adjust our protocols to reflect the latest guidance.

We had one NH High School student report a positive Covid test over the Thanksgiving break that resulted in contact tracing by the school.  Everyone impacted by that event was notified.

We are looking at December 16th for our Community Services Food Distribution.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

Stay safe and hug your kids.

NH Update and Clarifications from Dr. Richards - November 24

Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff:

I have a few clarifications to yesterday’s email.  I appreciate folks reaching out for further information.

As we shared in yesterday’s update, we are altering the schedule and transitioning to a hybrid model for students in grades 7 through 12 starting Monday, November 30th.  This will last until Christmas Break.   Students in Kindergarten through sixth grade will attend every day.   This does not change the status of our virtual students in any way.  NH Virtual will continue as it has been and will continue into and through second semester.

Students in grades 7 -12 will be having school five days a week.  Whether they are at school or at home, they are expected to log in each day and participate.  This will be how we keep attendance for those eLearning days.

I do need to clarify the last name information.  Students with last names STARTING in A – K will attend school on Monday and Thursday.  Students with names STARTING in L – Z will attend on Tuesday and Friday.  Wednesday will be an eLearning day for grades 7-12.   Blended families with last names in both categories will attend with A-K.  (Thank you to the G8 student who caught my mistake!)
